At night at Trompenburg...
During the months of April and May, a few of my photographic works featuring unique plants from Trompenburg will be on display at De Maaltuin.

The almost fluorescent bright colors illuminate the dark garden and bring the nocturnal flowers of Trompenburg to life.

With Nocturnal Garden I create escapades, looking for sweltering air, exotic fragrances and the exuberant nature that evokes a desire for nocturnal adventures.

An olfactory experience takes you to the night in

An olfactory experience takes you to the night in the cactus house where the Hylocereus Undatus blooms for one night only, before fading when dawn arrives.

The scent is made from faded flowers, stems and buds of the Hylocereus Undatus. The photographs and scent can be experienced in November in Trompenburg Tuinen & Arboretum.

Very happy to be part of De Maaltuin at Trompenburg. In August and September, a number of my stills, with plants from the botanical garden, will be on display, during this special culinary evening.

My favourite plant, the Hylocereus undatus (Dragon Fruit Cactus) blooms only one night a year, to fade when dawn arrives. Whilst other creatures sleep, �a furtive interplay between �nocturnal flora and fauna �unfolds. With my work, I bring back the flowers to life. Fascinated by the glowing foliage, textures that play on light and shadow, and intensely sweet aromas.

In nature, symbionts are life forms that interact in mutually beneficial ways. In the presentation ‘SYMBIONTS - Nocturnal Garden / Prosperity Biotopes’ the botanical art projects of Daan Samson and Elsbeth van Noppen also come together in a mutally benefical way.

Exhibited in the DISplay, window exhibition space:

Botanical artwork with a day-night rhythm. During the day, the jungle (inspired by the forests of Costa Rica) is a so-called ‘prosperity biotope' by Daan Samson. As dusk sets in you can see how the green habitat changes in the domain of Nocturnal Garden. In an environment lit with fluorescent colours, filmmaker Elsbeth van Noppen explores the intimate feeling she experiences at night.
